Satyam Shrivastava

Satyam Shrivastava has been working with social sector for over 17 years. He has been associated with SRUTI (Society for Rural, Urban and Tribal Initiative) for over 17 years. Presently he is the Co-Director, SRUTI. Satyam has been actively engaged with issues over natural resources (land, forest and water), education, governance and related challenges. He has also worked on documentation of various grassroot initiatives and peoples’ movements on issues rights over natural resources and socio-economic concerns such as governance, Panchayati Raj Institutions, food security and caste. He has taken up the roles of finance management in SRUTI.

He is one of the experts members of the National Committee on Community Forest Rights and Pastoral rights formed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Prior to SRUTI, Satyam has worked on issues – homelessness, urban poverty. His previous experience includes work with Centre for Equity Studies on rights of homeless children. Satyam was an active student union member while pursuing an MA and M.Phil in Hindi (Comparative Literature) at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha, Maharashtra, and has worked extensively on the politics of educational institutions. His publications include subjects such as mining, forest, local governance, globalization, caste and education. He is interested in exploring research on politics of caste. He is writing on land, forest, mining and environment issues in various contemporary news portals like the wire, News click, Media Vigil, BBC in Hindi.
