Internships
At HAQ we provide opportunities for internships throughout the year for students from various institutes in India. Some of our interns who have shared their experiences are:
"Interning at HAQ provided an insightful journey in the area of child rights. It helped me understand the 'real' status of children in our country by revealing the ground realities. As a student of mass communication I understood that how the media needs to effectively work with organisations like HAQ for the very neglected cause of child rights ." Aratrika Rath, Masters in journalism, Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication Pune
"As law students, we often sit through so-called ‘informed discussions’ where we unanimously agree that the State is doing nothing for the betterment of its children.. However, it was only at HAQ, one of the very few organisations today that actually works for what it stands for, that I realised that it’s not until you become a responsible and active part of the system that you can change it for the better. My internship at HAQ provided me with valuable life experience and was a revelation of sorts, both for the person that I am and want to be, and for the kind of contribution that we, as future lawyers of this country, are expected to make to the lives of innumerable children who have been wronged and who have been at the receiving end of the nonchalance, inefficiency and selfishness of the people who are supposed to care for and protect them". Swati Singh, National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University of Law, BA (LLB), Hyderabad
"My internship at HAQ was a very informative and eye-opening experience. I say this in terms of the exposure I received coupled with the guidance of my Supervisor Mr. Vipin Bhatt. My knowledge regarding child rights was restricted to what I would gather from the newspapers and other media. While working with HAQ I got to deal first hand with these issues and learnt the practical situation as it stood with regard to issues pertaining to rights of a child and more specifically juvenile justice. Primarily, I got to see the difference in the intended policy and law implementation and what the situation actually is. All in all I was quite intrigued by the issues that I dealt with and was mighty impressed by the way in which these were dealt with. " Arjun Shiv, Gujarat
